What Do Quakers Believe?

As Quakers (Friends), we practice a religious life which is direct, simple, and (we hope) in touch with the Holy Spirit.

We believe:

  • God speaks to the hearts and minds of every person, in every walk of life.

  • Every moment and every occasion can be a time of special closeness with God.

  • We are called to tell the truth at all times, even when it is difficult to do so.

  • Jesus came to bring peace and justice to the world.

  • Worshiping together in spiritual unity is more important than agreeing to things on paper.

  • Our outward lives should line up with our inward feelings and convictions.

  • We welcome people from any and all backgrounds.
