Job Position Announcement:
Worship Technical Support Specialist
West Richmond Friends Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) seeks qualified applicants for the position of Worship Technical Support Specialist.
Status: Hourly, part-time
Schedule: Sunday mornings, 2-4 hours weekly; occasional special events as negotiated
Compensation: Pay rate appropriate to experience and skills
Job Summary:
West Richmond Friends Meeting responded to the COVID-19 pandemic by shifting to worship online using Zoom; since May 2021, the congregation has been meeting in “hybrid” mode, with two-way integration of audio and video between in-person and Zoom participants. We have an active online community. The Worship Technical Support Specialist will be responsible for operating all in-room audio and video equipment during meeting for worship and other Sunday morning activities at West Richmond Friends Meeting. At minimum, this involves:
• Running sound for the public address system, including initial sound checks
• Operating the camera systems to capture those who speak and other action in various parts of the worship space
• Maintaining full integration of audio & video between in-room systems and Zoom
• Coordinating with remote Zoom hosts, worship leadership, musicians, and others as needed
• Troubleshooting as circumstances require
Essential skills and qualities:
· Creative problem-solving and the ability to respond quickly without overreacting
· Good oral & written communication skills
· Experience with live audio systems (especially Behringer mixing equipment)
· Experience with video & audio software (e.g., Open Broadcast System, Zoom, Pulseaudio, V4L2)
Additional skills possessed by an ideal candidate:
· Familiarity with video production, recording, and streaming
· Familiarity with Ubuntu Linux and the MATE desktop environment
· Facility with shell scripting and desktop automation
